There are three
tables in this example to create the structure you require. The tables are
identified by the colored borders. The main table is in purple,
the navigation table is in green, and the content
table is in red. This is to help you identify
the structure of the table.
In the main
table Add Shim graphic to yellow merged line to define thickness
In the main
table Add Shim to bottom left corner cell with width = 160px to maintain cell
width.
In the main
table Maintain purple left section at width=160px
Add navigation
table in left middle cell for separation of text if graphic buttons are not
used.
Add content
table with 2 cells 1 row in the white main area to place a spacer between
the nav area and the main content area, make first cell about 5px width and
second cell 100% width. Place shim graphic with width set to 5px in first
cell to insure proper spacing.
Set the cells
in the main content area and Nav Area to a vertical alignment of top so all
text will start at the top of the page.
